Jord Veldman has a wealth of experience in the maritime industry. Jord began their career at Wijsmuller in 1998 as a Regional Manager. Jord then joined Svitzer in 1999, where they served as Managing Director for the Americas region until 2005. From 2005 to 2009, Veldman was the Managing Director of Ocean Towage BV at Svitzer. Veldman then moved to Boskalis in 2009, where they held the position of Regional Manager Brazil/Executive Director until 2015. In 2015, they joined Smit Lamnalco as the Chief Operating Officer and has since been promoted to the role of Chief Commercial Officer in 2017.
Jord Veldman has an extensive education history. Jord began their education at Stedelijk Gymnasium Leeuwarden, where they attended from 1980 to 1985. After completing their Atheneum diploma at Rijkscholengemeenschap Leeuwarden from 1985 to 1987, they pursued further studies in Management & Organization at the University of Groningen, earning a Msc degree from 1987 to 1992.
In 1989, Jord attended a summer course in Asian Studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Jord then enrolled at Yonsei University from 1990 to 1992, where they completed an MBA with a focus on Finance and Asian Studies.
Additionally, in 1993, Jord attended School Reserve Officieren der Cavalerie, where they obtained the rank of Lieutenant (Reserve) after studying Cavalry (tanks).
Finally, prior to completing their education at the University of Cambridge in 1996, Jord studied Anatomy of Shipping.
