Michael Carrancho possesses extensive experience in engineering and design management, currently serving as the Deputy Director for the Office of Planning Design and Construction within the Smithsonian Institution since January 2010. In this role, Carrancho oversees the production of all capital and major maintenance designs and manages Architect and Engineer contracts. Prior to this position, Carrancho was a Business Manager at the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Europe Africa Southwest Asia from July 2003 to January 2010, where responsibilities included overseeing four business lines and leading a diverse team of over 1300 personnel across multiple countries in managing a significant annual business volume. Carrancho's career began as a Project Manager at NAVFAC from 1992 to 1996. Education includes a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Merrimack College, obtained between 1989 and 1991.
