Nicole Lai

Nicole Lai, PE, is an Associate Distribution System Engineer at SMUD, having joined in February 2023. Prior experience includes roles as an Electrical Project Engineer at Pacific Gas and Electric Company from July 2021 to February 2023, where notable contributions included completing eight CAISO meter recertification projects, managing equipment upgrades, and developing project tracking tools. Earlier roles at Pacific Gas and Electric included responsibilities as a Power Generation Electrical Engineer and a Distribution Operations Systems Engineering Intern, where data organization and analysis for asset management were key. A substation engineering design internship at ABB provided further experience in grounding studies and quality assurance. Nicole holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, completed in 2021.
