Lucas Holmes is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in nonprofit management and community engagement. Serving as the Director of People & Culture at Soccer Without Borders since 2015, Lucas has held multiple leadership roles, including staffing and development management. Prior to this, Lucas contributed to City Year as a Senior AmeriCorps Service Leader, where responsibilities included planning civic engagement projects to enhance school climates in Boston. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with minors in Anthropology and Spanish Language and Literature from Skidmore College, along with international study experience in Spain. Early career highlights include roles in education and youth sports, where Lucas coached, mentored, and tutored various age groups.

Soccer Without Borders’ mission is to use soccer as a vehicle for positive change. In the USA, we provide newcomer refugee, asylee, and immigrant youth with a toolkit to overcome obstacles to growth, inclusion and personal success. Internationally, our programs engage under-served communities. What We Do: We provide team-based programming to youth who are traditionally excluded from sports-based and extracurricular activities. Our activity framework provides participants with an avenue for positive engagement, a platform for personal growth, and a toolkit for a brighter future. That framework includes: soccer play and instruction, team-building, civic engagement, off-field education, and cultural exchange. Through these activities and with the support of caring coaches and mentors in a close-knit team environment, youth gain access to the skills and networks they need to reach their potential.
