Brendan Hodgson

Brendan Hodgson is currently a Thermal Analysis Intern at SpaceX, focusing on thermal analysis for the Starship vehicle. Previously, Brendan served as the Propulsion Fluid Systems Lead and Engineer at the Society for Advanced Rocket Propulsion (SARP), where responsibilities included testing an O-class bipropellant rocket, addressing remote filling challenges, and researching plumbing for a high-thrust Ethanol-NOx rocket. Brendan has also interned at NASA's Marshall Spaceflight Center, validating adaptive time-stepping schemes in the propulsion thermal analysis branch. Brendan is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering at the University of Washington, expected to graduate in June 2025.

Society for Advanced Rocket Propulsion (SARP)

The Society for Advanced Rocket Propulsion (SARP) is a group of student engineers at the University of Washington committed to designing, building, and launching an advanced hybrid sounding rocket every year. We compete in the annual Spaceport America Cup in New Mexico, in which over 100 student teams from around the world compete with their rockets. We compete in the most technically challenging category: student researched and developed hybrid motor with an altitude goal of 30,000 feet above ground level. Our team consists of over 100 undergraduate students from many different majors, including aeronautics & astronautics, mechanical, chemical, electrical, and computer engineering as well as other non-engineering majors.
