Marcel Suri serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Solargis since May 2016, leading the company in providing weather data, online applications, and consultancy services that enhance the performance and reduce risks of solar power plants. Prior to this role, Marcel was the Managing Director at GeoModel Solar from 2010 to May 2016, specializing in site qualification and the operation of solar energy systems, as well as developing high-resolution solar resource databases and tools. Marcel's earlier experience includes serving as Director at GeoModel (2008-2010), managing GIS and remote sensing projects, and as a Researcher at the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (2001-2008), focusing on renewable resource mapping in Europe and Africa. Marcel began their career as a Researcher at the Institute of Geography, Slovak Academy of Sciences (1989-2001), concentrating on satellite remote sensing and environmental modeling. Marcel holds a PhD in Geography and Geoinformatics from the Institute of Geography, Slovak Academy of Sciences, and an MSc in Geography and Geoinformatics from Comenius University in Bratislava.
