Shawn Doherty

Shawn Doherty is a highly experienced materials scientist with a focus on chemical engineering and materials development. Currently serving as a Sr. Staff Scientist at Solenis since May 2016, Shawn is involved in the Pulp and Paper Applications Laboratories, contributing to job requests, method development, and instrument maintenance. Prior experience includes a role as a Chemical Engineer in Materials Development at Engineered Arresting Systems Corporation - Zodiac Aerospace, where Shawn played a critical role in the development of EMAS materials. Earlier positions include Senior Research Engineer at Mannington Mills, where Shawn led the development of antimicrobial coatings, and Research Associate at the Center for Composite Materials, focusing on polymer behavior. Shawn also holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering from Northwestern University, where significant research included the synthesis and production of carbon nanotubes.
