Phil Wiemann is the current Director of Biotechnology & Bioprocessing at Solugen since July 2020. Before this role, Phil worked as a Scientist at Hexagon Bio from September 2017 to July 2020 and as an Assistant Scientist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from November 2012 to August 2017. With a background in molecular microbiology and a PhD in the same field, Phil has extensive experience in genetically modifying various organisms such as fungi and plants for research purposes. Additionally, Phil has held postdoctoral positions at both the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster where Phil focused on genetic modification and pathogenicity assays.
