Suzanne Axtell

Fund Development at Sonoma County Library

Suzanne Axtell has extensive experience in fund development and event management, currently serving in a position at Sonoma County Library since February 2023. Prior to this, Axtell worked at O'Reilly Media for two decades, holding various roles including Event Projects Director and Diversity Outreach, where responsibilities included managing the production of up to 21 conference websites annually and recruiting speakers from underrepresented groups. Axtell also served as the Conferences Communications Manager, leading a team to significantly increase the number of annual events, and held positions as a Publicist, Intranet Editor, and Event Coordinator, showcasing a diverse skill set in marketing, communications, and event planning. Axtell’s earlier experience includes working as the Community Relations Coordinator at Borders Books, successfully organizing numerous events to enhance store traffic and sales. Axtell holds an MA in English/Creative Writing from New York University and a BA in French from California State University, Long Beach.
