South Sound 911
Scott Hamel has over 25 years of public safety communications experience. As South Sound 911’s Deputy Director of Support Services, he oversees the agency’s Technical Services and Records departments. He also works in tandem with the Deputy Director of Operations to oversee 911 and dispatch.
As he worked his way up through the ranks, Scott gained a valuable understanding of every operational role within the 911 communications center. He’s handled 911 and non-emergency calls, dispatched, and also trained and supervised employees.
Scott earned an associate’s degree from Pierce College and has certification as a National Emergency Number Association (NENA) Emergency Number Professional (ENP). He also competed NENA’s Center Manager Certification Program.

South Sound 911
South Sound 911 is a recognized expert in building police and fire dispatch interoperability. The agency now operates two 911 centers in Pierce County, Wash., and together they answer nearly 1 million calls annually and provide dispatch services for 19 law enforcement and 18 fire/EMS agencies.
