Alan Gale is an experienced Operational Safety Delivery Manager at Southeastern Railway, with a career spanning over three decades in the railway and safety training sectors. Since January 2001, Alan has managed a team of Operational Safety Specialists, ensuring compliance with Railway Industry Standards and business objectives. Prior experience includes roles as Operations Inspector at Southeastern Railway, Safety Critical Trainer/Assessor at Connex South Eastern, and Handsignalman at British Rail, among others. Alan began a career in safety and training with significant early roles, including as a Motorcycle Instructor for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and a Navigators Yeoman in the Royal Navy. Alan's extensive background encompasses a robust understanding of safety-critical operations, training design, and competency management within the railway industry.

Southeastern runs train services into London from Kent and East Sussex, operating some 1600 trains a day, carrying more than 400,000 passengers each weekday, serving 180 stations and covering 450 miles of track. We operate one of the busiest networks in the country including the UK’s first domestic high speed service with Javelin trains. SOUTHEASTERN is owned by SE Trains Ltd, a subsidiary of the Department for Transport’s public sector owning group, ‘DOHL.’ DOHL has responsibility for three rail companies, LNER, Northern Trains Limited and SE Trains.
