Byron Merritt

Byron Merritt currently serves as a Board Trustee at SCI-Arc and holds the position of Vice President of Design at Amazon Music since January 2022. Previously, Byron was the Vice President of Brand Experience Design at Delta Air Lines from December 2019 to December 2021. A significant portion of Byron's career was spent at Nike, where numerous roles culminated in the Vice President of Global Retail Innovation for Nike Direct, focused on developing disruptive consumer experiences across digital and physical spaces. Earlier roles at Nike included Vice President/Global Creative Director for Advanced Concepts and Brand Innovation, and Senior Creative Director positions in various capacities. Prior experience also includes a role as Director of Business Development and Practice Leadership at IDEO, and a Senior Designer position at Gap, Inc. Byron's academic background includes a Master of Architecture from SCI-Arc and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Old Dominion University, further complemented by education at Technische Universität Braunschweig and the United States Naval Academy.
