Manuel Daskalos is a Senior Design Engineer at Southern Nuclear since December 2019, having previously held the role of Senior Component Engineer. Prior to this, Manuel served as a Vehicle Dynamics Engineer at Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates, LLC. from January 2004 to February 2019, where responsibilities included simulation development and project management. Earlier experience encompasses roles as Team Engineer at Jasper Motorsports, where Manuel managed multiple engineering functions, Facilities Engineer at EG&G Technical Services leading inspections and collaborative initiatives, and Senior Engineer at Electric Boat, addressing construction and design challenges for nuclear submarines. Manuel holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University Institute of Technology.

Southern Nuclear operates a total of seven units for Alabama Power and Georgia Power at the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant near Dothan, Ala.; the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant near Baxley, Ga., and the Alvin W. Vogtle Electric Generating Plant near Waynesboro, Ga. The company recently achieved commercial operation on Vogtle Unit 3 and is the current licensee of Vogtle Unit 4, which is under construction. Both of these units represent historic achievements for the nuclear industry as the first new nuclear units to reach commercial operation and be built in the United States in the last three decades.
