Rick Libra serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer at Southern Nuclear since May 2023. Prior to this role, Rick Libra held the position of Senior Vice President Operations at Southern Company from October 2019 to May 2023. From July 2015 to October 2019, Rick Libra was the Site Vice President at Limerick Generating Station for EXELON CORP, and previously, served as the Site Vice President and Plant Manager for Three Mile Island at Exelon Nuclear from October 2009 to July 2015. Rick Libra holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Engineering in Engineering/Industrial Management from Washington State University.

Southern Nuclear operates a total of seven units for Alabama Power and Georgia Power at the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant near Dothan, Ala.; the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant near Baxley, Ga., and the Alvin W. Vogtle Electric Generating Plant near Waynesboro, Ga. The company recently achieved commercial operation on Vogtle Unit 3 and is the current licensee of Vogtle Unit 4, which is under construction. Both of these units represent historic achievements for the nuclear industry as the first new nuclear units to reach commercial operation and be built in the United States in the last three decades.
