Gerrit Van Niekerk is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in various roles across multiple companies. Currently serving as a Senior & Principal Software Engineer at SPAN Digital Innovation since September 2021, Gerrit is leading the implementation of a high-performance online vending system. Previous positions include Analytics Engineer at Fastcomm, where responsibilities involved designing IoT distributed control systems, and Software Engineer at BirdPro, focusing on custom algorithms for bird identification. Gerrit has also developed terminal emulators for Android devices, contributed to award-winning applications, and held leadership roles in medical device startups.
