Hannah Shapiro

Hannah Shapiro is an associate attorney at Ropes & Gray LLP, a preeminent global law firm. Hannah joined Ropes & Gray’s corporate department in 2021 following her graduation from Georgetown University Law Center. During law school, Hannah served as a student attorney with the Health Justice Alliance Law Clinic, where she represented low-income D.C. residents seeking better housing conditions and special education supports and services. Additionally, Hannah completed externships with both the in-house legal department at Capital One and the Torts Branch of the Civil Division in the U.S. Department of Justice. Prior to law school, Hannah was a registered federal lobbyist for a global autism nonprofit and served as a legislative advisor to a U.S. Congressman. Hannah resides in New Jersey and is the proud sister of her younger brother with autism.

Special Citizens Futures Unlimited

In 1976, a group of parents of autistic adolescents came together to organize Special Citizens as a nonprofit organization. The organization began as a vehicle to advocate for ongoing adult programs for their children who had aged out of Special Education services with very few options for long-term housing or day programming.
