Brian Hui has a diverse work experience spanning multiple organizations. Brian currently serves as the Manager of the Center for Health Equity at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, starting in August 2021. Prior to this role, they worked at Special Service for Groups (SSG) from 2011 to 2021, where their roles included IRB Administrator, Director of Research & Evaluation, Community Development Manager, and Housing and Community Development Liaison. As the Liaison, they were responsible for program management, housing development, project management, and facilities operation at Sustainable Urban ReVitalization (SURV). From 2016 to 2017, they also served as a Faculty Fellow at the Edmund G. "Pat" Brown Institute of Public Affairs. Additionally, Brian worked at Special Service for Groups - Tongan Community Service Center from 2008 to 2011, holding positions as Program Manager and Project Coordinator. In their roles at the Tongan Community Service Center, they supervised staff, oversaw program operations, and was involved in various community-based initiatives.
Brian Hui earned their Bachelor of Arts degree from Pomona College. Following that, they pursued a PhD at UC Irvine in the field of Policy, Planning & Design. Brian completed their doctorate in 2018.

Special Service for Groups
Special Service for Groups (SSG) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing community-based solutions to the social and economic issues facing those in greatest need. In its 66 year history, SSG has evolved into a model organization designed to provide service to diverse groups with maximum efficiency and impact. This is achieved by developing and managing programs that serve our many communities by encouraging their involvement and self-sufficiency. We believe that the needs of groups and individuals cross traditional ethnic, racial, and other cultural boundaries. SSG serves as a bridge between people with common needs to identify ways to pool resources for the greater good of all. Today, SSG operates over 20 human service divisions that offer a wide scope of services that include: Mental and behavioral health treatment, homeless services, HIV treatment and prevention, occupational therapy, obesity prevention, environmental justice projects and older adult services.
