Joanne McDermott has a wealth of experience in various roles related to safety, health, and environment management. Joanne currently serves as the Head of Safety, Health & Wellbeing at SSEN Transmission. Prior to this, they held the position of Head of Health, Safety & Environment at London Luton Airport from 2019 to 2021. From 2018 to 2019, they worked as the Health, Safety & Compliance Manager at Edinburgh Airport. Joanne also worked as an HSEA Specialist at Network Rail from 2015 to 2018. Before that, they served as a Performance Improvement Coordinator at Balfour Beatty Construction Services UK from 2014 to 2015. Joanne gained experience in behavioral safety and human performance at Magnox Ltd in 2014. Joanne's early work experience includes a role as a Shift Leader at Tesco PLC from 2009 to 2014.
Joanne McDermott completed their education in the field of Health and Safety Management. Joanne obtained a Bsc from Glasgow Caledonian University from 2017 to 2019. Prior to that, they pursued a Bsc in Health Psychology at Queen Margaret University from 2009 to 2013. In addition to their degrees, they earned additional certifications including becoming a Chartered Member of IOSH from IOSH in 2021, and obtaining the NEBOSH General Certificate from NEBOSH in 2014.
