Michael Rieley has a diverse work experience in the energy sector. Michael is currently working as the Lead Markets Manager at SSEN Transmission since 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Head of Electricity Networks and Regulation at The Scottish Government from 2021 to 2023. Before that, they had a tenure at SSE plc, where they held the positions of Whole System Manager from 2020 to 2021 and Commercial Policy Manager from 2017 to 2020. Michael also gained valuable experience at Scottish Renewables, where they held various roles including Head of Policy, Senior Policy Manager - Grid and Markets, Policy Manager, and Policy Officer between 2011 and 2017.

Michael Rieley attended Langside College from 2004 to 2005, and University of Glasgow from 2005 to 2010 where they obtained an MA (hons) degree in Economics.
