Daniel was born and raised in Michigan where he had five brothers to share the household with. He would walk about nine blocks to his local library during grade school to obtain and read books on woodworking and other topics.
After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. military, was stationed in Berlin, Germany, and was honorably discharged after three years. He attended Northern Michigan University on the “GI Bill” where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree with honors (Cum Laude) and a double minor.
While working full time for the State of Michigan in the Marquette area he volunteered his time with the local township fire department and became a firefighter/rescue tech and EMT. He also volunteered his time with Marquette County Emergency Services as a rescue tech/EMT. He became an instructor with rescue equipment, American Red Cross first aid, and CPR; training other firefighters in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
Later, he moved to the Detroit metro area after taking a law enforcement position with the federal government. He retired after serving for 26 years. During this time he worked temporary duty in several States and foreign countries.
Daniel lives in a multi-generational household that also has five rescued cats. He is looking forward to continuing his public service by supporting the library as a Board Trustee.
