Yana Cavanagh has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Yana began their career as a Medical Student at Atlantic Health in 2010 and then moved on to become a Medical Resident at St. Joseph's Health in 2011. Yana served as the Chief Medical Resident at Trinitas Regional Medical Center from 2015 to 2016. Yana then joined St. Joseph's Health as a Gastroenterology Fellow from 2016 to 2019, and later as an Advanced & Therapeutic Gastroenterology Fellow from 2019 to 2020. Currently, they hold the position of Interventional Gastroenterologist and Associate Program Director for the GI Fellowship at St. Joseph's Health. Yana is also the Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology, a role they assumed in early 2023.

Yana is also pursuing further certification in obesity medicine through the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM), anticipated to be completed in 2023.
