Ben Smith

Ben Smith is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in engineering and product management within the tech and scientific sectors. Currently serving as the VP of Engineering at Emerald Cloud Lab since June 2019, Ben oversees Engineering, IT, and Scientific Computing. Previously, at Box from June 2011 to June 2019, Ben held several key positions including Director of Product Management, where responsibilities included managing global hosting infrastructure and developer tools, and Sr Staff Architect, focusing on the strategy and architecture for hosting infrastructures across public and private clouds. Ben's early career included roles as a Sr Staff Software Engineer, Staff Software Engineer, and Software Engineer at Box, emphasizing development and architecture for various software applications. Ben Smith earned a PhD in Experimental Particle Physics and a B.A. in Physics and Mathematics from Harvard University, along with a solid educational foundation from Stuyvesant High School.
