Scott is senior associate director of development for the School of Humanities and Sciences and has primary responsibility for fundraising for the social sciences and global studies broadly. As one of three H&S fundraisers, he works to find matches between donor interests and school priorities. Prior to Stanford, Scott spent 20 years working in the nonprofit sector in the Bay Area and Asia. He served as executive director of VIA (Volunteers in Asia), which was founded at Stanford in 1963, and he spent four years at the Haas Center for Public Service, where VIA was located until 2006. A fourth-generation Californian, Scott would ideally spend all his time traveling, eating, and making things. He can often be found building unpermitted structures in his yard.
