Laura Yuen

Laura Yuen is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in covering complex social issues. Currently serving as a Features Columnist for the Star Tribune since August 2021, Yuen writes columns focused on parenting, gender, relationships, and lifestyle. Previously, Yuen worked at MPR News from January 2008 to August 2021, where as the founding editor of a reporting team, Yuen addressed topics of race, immigration, class, and mental health, while also managing initiatives to engage diverse audiences. Yuen has a strong background in reporting, having covered significant stories in Minnesota, including the Garrison Keillor scandal and issues affecting the Somali-American community. Earlier roles include reporting for the St. Paul Pioneer Press and the Lexington Herald-Leader, alongside freelance work highlighting Minnesota's immigrant communities for national platforms. Yuen holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Northwestern University.
