Barbara Thomas

Barbara Thomas is a highly experienced tax professional with a robust background in taxation and private equity. Currently serving as Senior Tax Counsel and Director of Private Equity Taxation at Starr Companies since 2009, Barbara manages a broad range of in-house tax responsibilities, including US and international tax planning related to various corporate activities. Previously, Barbara held positions as Tax Partner at Morrison Cohen LLP and Hogan Lovells, focusing on the formation and structuring of private equity funds, mergers, acquisitions, and complex tax matters across multiple industries. Barbara's foundational experiences include roles at Squadron Ellenoff, Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, Deloitte, CBS News, Roller Bearing Company of America, and KPMG. An accomplished academic, Barbara holds a Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University School of Law and a Doctor of Law from Temple University, alongside a Bachelor of Science in Accounting/Finance from The College of New Jersey.
