Brione Lacey (she/her) is a financial services professional who has spent most of the last decade managing teams of financial advisors at two of Canada’s major banks. Earlier this year, she accepted a role with RBC’s Commercial Financial Services team, working with mid-market sized businesses specializing in the delivery of professional services. Brione holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Toronto Metropolitan University, in addition to several financial accreditations from the Canadian Securities Institute, and she plans to pursue an executive MBA in 2024.
Originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, Brione has had the opportunity to live, study, and work in several major Canadian cities and abroad throughout her career. She is a proud member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and is an active volunteer and advocate for marginalized groups. Brione is a senior cabinet member of RBC’s GTA Pride Employee Resource Group and a board member for the Toronto Chapter of the Canadian Progress Club. She is passionate about taking action to create change, encouraging allyship, and creating safer spaces for marginalized people at work and in her community. In her spare time, Brione dedicates herself to her wife Amanda, her four rescue animals, and recreational activities.

The Start Proud Vision: To empower members of the LGBTQA community to be Canada’s leaders of tomorrow, where all institutions embrace inclusiveness within the workplace and diversity within the workforce. Our objectives at Start Proud are to: 1. Inspire students to utilize their confidence, skills and knowledge that will enable them to distinguish themselves and act as leaders of the Canadian community. 2. Connect students with fellow peers, professionals and members from pro-LGBTQA organizations to establish their network. 3. Foster mentorship by exposing students to strong leaders and role models that have paved the way for the LGBTQA community. 4. Establish a positive public profile of the advancement of the LGBTQA community in the Canadian workforce and communities within which we operate.
