Dorthe Aagesen has extensive experience in the museum sector, currently serving as Chief Curator & Senior Researcher at SMK – Statens Museum for Kunst since May 1999. Aagesen has held various roles at SMK, advancing from Curator & Researcher to Curator & Senior Researcher. In 2015, Aagesen participated as a Fellow at the Center for Curatorial Leadership, which focuses on equipping curators with leadership skills for evolving cultural institutions. Prior to SMK, Aagesen worked as a Curator at ARKEN Museum of Modern Art from December 1995 to April 1999. Educationally, Aagesen is pursuing a Diplom i ledelse at DTU - Technical University of Denmark and holds a Mag.art. in Art History from Aarhus University, completed in 1995, following a Matematisk-samfundsfaglig student degree from Vesthimmerlands Gymnasium.
