Shara Newman has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Shara started their career with Bloomberg in 1992, where they worked in service/IT support and later became a multimedia producer. In 2000, they joined Martin Clearwater & Bell as an associate attorney. Shara then worked as an independent contractor in litigation support from 2001 to 2004. From 2004 to 2007, they served as the Director of Financial Services at Lancer Claims Services. Shara then worked as a counsel at UBM LLC from 2007 to 2014. In 2014, they became a consultant/legal counsel at Adobe Systems Incorporated. From 2015 to 2017, they held the positions of Assistant General Counsel (NJ) and Consultant (FL) at INTTRA. From 2017 to 2018, they worked as a consultant at Attorney Licensed in New York and New Jersey. Currently, they hold the role of Chief Contracts Officer at Stony Brook Medicine, starting in 2018.
Shara Newman completed their Juris Doctor degree from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 1999. Prior to that, they earned a B.A. in English from Stony Brook University, graduating in 1992. Shara attended the University at Albany, SUNY from 1988 to 1990. Additionally, they attended Sachem H.S. but no specific degrees or field of study were mentioned.

Stony Brook Medicine expresses our shared mission of research, clinical care and education – a mission embraced by our faculty, staff, researchers, and students. Stony Brook Medicine comprises five Health Sciences schools — Renaissance School of Medicine, School of Dental Medicine, School of Health Technology and Management, School of Nursing and School of Social Welfare — as well as Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital, Stony Brook Children’s Hospital and more than 200 community-based healthcare settings throughout Suffolk County. Our health sciences schools work in tandem with our research and clinical care teams to deliver the best ideas in medicine to patients. As an academic medical center, we are all about ideas. Creating them. Nurturing them. Protecting them. Challenging them. Improving them. Teaching them to others. And most importantly of all, delivering them to patients and their families – sooner, smarter and better. An “idea” can be a new treatment protocol, best practices, a bright new researcher we’ve brought in from another institution, the convenience of an outpatient clinic, or simply a more user-friendly way to access our medical care.
