Alex Sylvia

Alex Sylvia is an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in software development, firmware design, and digital signal processing. Currently serving as a Software Development Lead at STR since May 2021, Alex specializes in Python development technologies such as gRPC and GraphQL, alongside C++ design and MATLAB verification. Prior experience includes roles at Raytheon Missiles & Defense, where Alex worked as an Electrical Engineer II focusing on firmware and FPGA design using VHDL, and as an Electrical Engineer I managing RF circuit board testing. Earlier professional experience includes an engineering internship at Solectria, where Alex contributed to PCB library updates and developed a preliminary CAN bus interface. Alex holds a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
