Isaac Rutenberg

Isaac Rutenberg is an accomplished Intellectual Property Advisor at CIFOR-ICRAF since August 2023, while concurrently serving as an Associate Professor at Strathmore University since July 2012, specializing in Intellectual Property and Competition Law. Rutenberg is also an Associate Member at the Center for Law, Technology, and Society at the University of Ottawa and previously held the position of Head of Legislative, Policy and Technology Advice Section at the World Intellectual Property Organization from March 2022 to July 2023. Rutenberg has a rich background in intellectual property, serving as Director of the Center for Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law (CIPIT) and as a consultant for Kamau-Rutenberg Consulting. Further experience includes roles as a patent attorney and board member at the Kenya Copyright Board, demonstrating strong expertise in patent prosecution and legal advisory across various prestigious organizations. Rutenberg's educational qualifications include a JD from Santa Clara University School of Law, a PhD in Chemistry from Caltech, and dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Science and Mathematics and Computer Science from Colorado School of Mines.
