Kumar Chellapilla currently serves as the Head of ML Platform and Generative AI accelerator teams at Stripe since December 2023. Prior to this role, Kumar was the General Manager of ML/AI Services at Amazon Web Services (AWS) from July 2020 to December 2023, overseeing teams focused on a range of ML/AI services including Human-in-loop systems and services for defense customers. Earlier experience includes leadership positions at Lyft as Director of Engineering for autonomous vehicle knowledge, at Uber Advanced Technologies Group also as Director of Engineering for self-driving technology, and at LinkedIn, where Kumar directed engineering efforts for monetization relevance. Kumar's career also includes managerial roles at Twitter focused on ad quality and at Microsoft, where contributions were made in search advertising and the founding of Microsoft Live Labs. Kumar holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from UC San Diego, earned between 1997 and 2000.
