Niku Toivola has extensive experience in technical leadership and system administration within the online gaming and telecommunications industries. Currently serving as Technical Lead at Sulake since March 2006, Niku oversees the Technical Operations team and manages production and support systems. Previous roles include Senior and System Administrator at Sulake, where responsibilities encompassed managing a distributed network for online gaming services across over 20 countries. Earlier positions include software engineer at zed Ltd, contributing to the European delivery centre, and system specialist at Sonera Media Communications, focusing on server management and automation. Niku began a career as a system analyst at the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, gaining foundational skills in Unix server management and network security. Niku holds a degree from the University of Helsinki, completed in 1998.

We are Sulake! We build and manage vibrant, engaging online communities for teenagers and young adults to have fun and express themselves, and we’re good at it! Currently, we’re both operating and developing two communities: Hotel Hideaway and Habbo. Hotel Hideaway is a virtual hotel for young adults aged 17+ and is available exclusively on iOS and Android, while Habbo is famous for being one of the world's most popular social hangouts for teens. Now over 18 years old, Habbo has been played by hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Sulake is part of Azerion Group. Azerion is a diverse company group of various media and technology brands such as Orange Games, Plinga, Sellbranch, Sulake, Widespace, Improve Digital and many others.
