Sarah Goy Sirsat has a diverse work experience in academia and research. Sarah worked at SUNY Potsdam as an Assistant Professor where they taught classes on vertebrate physiology and conducted research on avian endothermic physiology. Sarah focused on the effects of plumage color on growth and development. Prior to this, they worked at the University of North Texas as a Research Assistant, where they developed methods to study cardiac and skeletal muscle respiration in reptilian and avian species. Sarah also managed a breeding colony of Chinese blue-breasted quail for experimental use. Additionally, they served as a Teaching Assistant, guiding undergraduate students in conducting research projects and managing laboratory classrooms. Before that, they gained work experience at Harding University as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant, Student Tutor, and Laboratory Assistant. Sarah also worked as a Horse Wrangler at Camp Wyldewood, where they maintained and prepared horses for trail rides and instructed campers in horsemanship skills. Sarah has also worked as a Bird Crew Research Intern at the Missouri Ozark Forest Ecosystem Project, where they mapped breeding territories, monitored nests, and characterized nest placement microhabitat for birds.
Sarah Goy Sirsat completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology at Harding University from 2005 to 2009. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a higher level of education at the University of North Texas, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Animal Physiology from 2009 to 2016.
