Sure Fit
In 1914, the Krasnov family established the SureFit company in Philadelphia, PA and created the ready-made slipcover industry. Prior to the debut of SureFit, all furniture covers were expensive, custom made products created by furniture tailors – known as “summer dress”. Since air conditioning was not widely used at this time, and upholstered furniture was made of heavy fabrics such as wools and velvets, in the summer months people were looking for ways to protect their furniture from the heat and sweat. This was the perfect time for a ready-made product to be sold in department stores across the country.
