Mark Pearmain has extensive work experience in the field of education. Mark is currently serving as the Superintendent / CEO at Surrey Schools (School District #36 Surrey), where they oversee the largest student enrollment in British Columbia. Prior to this, they held the same position at North Vancouver School District #44 and was responsible for the daily operations of the school district. Mark also served as the Assistant Superintendent in the same district. Before their time in North Vancouver, they worked as the Director of Instruction - Field Services and District Principal - Field Services at Vancouver School Board. Mark Pearmain started their career as a Teacher at Kitsilano Secondary School and later held positions as Vice-Principal at Windermere Secondary School and Point Grey Secondary School. At Point Grey Secondary School, they also served as the Principal and was involved in various projects and initiatives to improve the learning environment for students.

Mark Pearmain completed their Bachelors of Education in History/Geography at the University of Victoria from 1989 to 1995. Mark then pursued further education at The University of British Columbia, where they obtained a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from 1998 to 2002.
