They are the first company in the world to cultivate and sell diatom algae shells. They call the material Algica®. Algica® is a porous silica with unique light altering, absorptive and binding properties that are unmatched by synthetic materials. Algica® makes silicon solar cells at least 4% more efficient (4% is worth at least €1,2B annually for the solar energy industry) and DSSC 38% more efficient. Each kg Algica® used in solar panels reduces C02 emissions with at leasts 200 tons according to WWF.
