Niclas Axelsson has extensive experience in the legal field, currently serving as a Legal Expert at Migrationsverket since November 2003, with roles including Specialist in detention issues and various executive positions within the organization. Prior to this, Niclas worked at Länsstyrelsen Gävleborg as a Handläggare and at Länsrätten i Gävle as Föredragande. Earlier career experience includes positions as a Legal Advisor at Företagarna, Handläggare at Försäkringskassan, and Research Assistant at Dalarnas forskningsråd. Niclas holds a Master’s degree in Law from Uppsala University, earned between 1993 and 2000.

The Swedish Migration Agency is commissioned by parliament and government, who set the Swedish asylum and migration policy. We are thus commissioned by the Swedish people, through the politicians who make decisions on migration policy.
