Johan Ørskov Ipsen has a range of work experience in scientific research and academia. Johan Ørskov began their career in 2016 as a Research Assistant at the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. Here, they focused on full process development using Yeast as an expression system and affinity purification. Johan Ørskov was successful in increasing the yield of the process six-fold per liter.
In 2017, Ipsen continued their research at Københavns Universitet as a Research Assistant. Their responsibilities included screening a library of chemically synthesized compounds on Plant and Yeast proton ATPase. Johan Ørskov utilized biochemical assays to screen for ATPase activity and transport function and applied the developed screening process to fungal extracts grown on different media.
Ipsen then pursued their Ph.D., working as a PHD Fellow at the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences from 2018 to 2021. Their focus was on characterizing and purifying metallo-enzymes from the carbohydrate active family of LPMO's. Ipsen's research aimed to expand the substrate profile of LPMO's and access their thermodynamic parameters. Johan Ørskov used various types of chromatography and Äkta platform and Unicorn software.
In 2021, Ipsen took on the role of Postdoctoral Researcher at Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen. Johan Ørskov furthered their research in the field until 2023.
Starting in 2023, Ipsen joined Symphogen as a Scientist, although no end date is provided.
Johan Ørskov Ipsen has a strong educational background in biotechnology. Johan Ørskov earned a Master's Degree in Biotechnology from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, where they studied from 2013 to 2016. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's Degree in Biotechnology at the same university from 2010 to 2013.
Before attending university, Johan attended Birkerød Gymnasium, where they received their High School diploma from 2005 to 2008.
In addition to their academic achievements, Johan has also obtained a certification in Projektledelse 1 from Mannaz | Kurser, uddannelser og konsulentydelser in March 2023.
