Nick Opie

CIO at Synchron

Nick Opie is the current CTO at Synchron, and they have also served as CTO and founder of SmartStent, as well as a surgical program coordinator and research engineer at various other companies. Nick has been involved in the design, development, preclinical testing and clinical trial of a bionic eye, demonstrating the clinical significance of a suprachoroidal retinal prosthesis to restore rudimentary vision to the profoundly blind. Nick has also worked on developing a novel minimally-invasive chronic brain recording device to treat paralysis.

Nick Opie has a Master of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School, a Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Melbourne, a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Monash University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Science from Monash University. Nick also attended Scotch College for high school.
