Bas de Vries

Bas de Vries has over 10 years of work experience in various leadership roles within the insurance and financial industry. Their most recent position was as the Head of Group Controlling & Finance at Talanx, a role they started in June 2020. Prior to that, they served as the CFO at HDI Gerling N.V. from September 2018 to September 2020. From September 2018 to June 2020, they were also the Managing Director at HDI Global SE. Before joining HDI Group, they worked at Talanx Group as the Manager Controlling Life and non-Life from June 2014 to September 2018. Bas also held positions at Talanx, Hannover as the Manager Data and Processes within Controlling Talanx Germany from April 2013 to June 2014. Earlier in their career, they were the Chief Financial & Risk Officer at Europeesche Verzekeringen from September 2010 to April 2013. Bas also gained experience as a Director at FactoringKonzept GmbH from January 2009 to September 2010 and as a Director at Fortis Versicherungen Service GmbH from January 2009 to September 2010. Bas began their career at Fortis Insurance International Europe as the Performance Manager Europe from April 2006 to March 2008. Throughout their career, Bas has demonstrated expertise in controlling, risk management, finance, and investments, and has consistently achieved targets and driven growth in the companies he's worked for.

Bas de Vries has a diverse education history. Bas studied at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) from 1993 until 1998 and obtained a degree in Economics and Business Administration. In 1996, they also completed a course in Assurantiebemiddeling B at Stichting Examens Assurantiebedrijf. In 1998, they pursued further education at Stichting Examens Assurantiebedrijf, this time in Assurantiebemiddeling A. Later, from 2000 until 2006, Bas de Vries attended Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) once again, this time obtaining a degree in Controlling, BIV, Marketing, and Economics, with the designation of RC EMFC. In 2008, they went on to study IFRS at KPMG Internet Studies from 2008 until 2010.
