Catherine Macharia-Mutie, PhD, currently serves as the Deputy Team Leader and Nutrition Expert at Tanager, where responsibilities include leading the nutrition initiative for the IGNITE project across four countries and developing a nutrition social behavior change campaign. Prior to Tanager, Catherine worked with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) as a Senior Technical Specialist, achieving significant funding for projects in Kenya and Tanzania and developing training materials that educated over 1000 farmers on nutrition practices. Catherine also held key roles at the Ministry of Education Science and Technology in Kenya, contributing to national policy development, and taught at both the University of Nairobi and Kenyatta University, focusing on nutrition education. Catherine earned a PhD in Human Nutrition from Wageningen University & Research and holds a BA and MSc in Anthropology and Nutrition from the University of Nairobi.
