Chao Weng is a Principal Researcher and Manager at Tencent since November 2017, specializing in speech signal processing, speaker recognition, speech synthesis, and speech recognition. Previously, Weng worked at Apple from August 2014 to October 2017 as a Speech Research & Development Engineer, where contributions included developing the first far-field models for Siri on iPhone and Homepod. Weng's academic background includes a Ph.D. and MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, along with an MS in Electrical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from East China University of Science and Technology. Experience also includes research internships at Microsoft Research and AT&T Labs, focusing on multi-talker and language-specific speech recognition, respectively.
