Janie Shipley has over three decades of experience in web management and marketing, currently serving as the Website & Marketing Projects Manager at Tennessee Aquarium since March 1992. In this role, Janie is responsible for the development and maintenance of the aquarium's website and internet-related initiatives, aimed at enhancing online presence, supporting organizational mission and vision, and driving attendance while managing projects efficiently. Prior to this position, Janie worked as a Bookkeeper at the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce from January 1984 to March 1992. Educationally, Janie attended The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga from 1982 to 1984.
Tennessee Aquarium
Located on the banks of the Tennessee River in Chattanooga and surrounded by the natural beauty of the mountains, the Tennessee Aquarium tells the story of the river – following the path of a raindrop from the streams of an Appalachian Forest to the Gulf of Mexico – from the mountains to the sea. Although the Aquarium has grown in size and in animal population since it’s opening in 1992, its story and its mission as a private, non-profit institution have remained the same; ‘to inspire wonder, appreciation and protection of water and all life that it sustains.’
