Michael Castillo is a Senior Nuclear Methods Software Engineer at TerraPower LLC since May 2021, responsible for verification and validation activities related to neutronic methods and integrating AI applications focused on natural language processing in the nuclear sector. Previously, from October 2019 to May 2021, Michael served as a Nuclear Design Engineer at Orano, specializing in the design and licensing of applications for the transportation and storage of spent nuclear fuel, including radiation shielding and criticality safety. Michael also completed a Nuclear Analyst Intern role at Orano in the summer of 2019, utilizing Python to develop software based on nuclear regulatory guidelines. Michael’s academic background includes a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering, both from Oregon State University.
