Sendil Palani is a seasoned finance professional with extensive experience in the automotive and technology sectors. Currently serving as Vice President of Finance at Tesla since May 2014, Sendil Palani has held various finance leadership roles, focusing on Engineering Finance, Manufacturing Finance, and Corporate Planning. Previous positions at Tesla include Director of Engineering Finance and Senior Finance Manager, where critical contributions were made to product development, Autopilot technology, and manufacturing projects. Prior to Tesla, Sendil Palani was an Associate at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, a Product Manager intern at Google, and a Summer Associate at GE. Early career experience includes business analysis at McKinsey & Company and finance roles at Tesla Motors. Sendil Palani holds a Master's Degree in Environment and Resources and an MBA from Stanford University, as well as dual Bachelor's Degrees in Electrical Engineering and Finance from the University of Pennsylvania and The Wharton School.

Tesla’s mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy through increasingly affordable electric vehicles in addition to renewable energy generation and storage. Tesla was founded in 2003 by a group of engineers who wanted to prove that people didn’t need to compromise to drive electric – that electric vehicles can be better, quicker and more fun to drive than gasoline cars. Tesla also installs and maintains energy systems and sells solar electricity; and offers end-to-end clean energy products, including generation, storage, and consumption. Tesla believes the faster the world stops relying on fossil fuels and moves towards a zero-emission future, the better. Additionally, they market and sell vehicles to consumers through a network of company owned stores and galleries. Tesla operates as two segments: one focused on automotive which includes its Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X vehicles, and the second on energy generation and storage which includes Powerwall and Megapack lithium-ion batteries. Today, Tesla is led by Elon Musk, however, other notable founders of the company are Martin Eberhard, JB Straubel, Marc Tarpenning, and Ian Wright. The company has manufacturing facilities in the US, Germany and China and has operations across Asia Pacific and Europe. Tesla is headquartered in Austin, Texas.
