Volodymyr Ponomar is a seasoned Mechanical Design Manager specializing in Power Electronics Test Engineering at Tesla since January 2019, with prior experience as an Associate Manager and Senior Mechanical Engineer. Before Tesla, Volodymyr worked at Hatch from April 2015 to January 2019, contributing as an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer on innovative Mechatronics and Robotics projects. Earlier roles include Product Development Engineer at SciCan, where Volodymyr enhanced medical product design and development, and Co-Founder of the University of Toronto BAJA SAE Racing Team. Volodymyr holds a Master of Engineering in Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Robotics, and Mechatronics, alongside a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Certificate in Project Management, all from the University of Toronto. Additional training includes a trades program in Machining and Welding at George Brown College.

Tesla’s mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy through increasingly affordable electric vehicles in addition to renewable energy generation and storage. Tesla was founded in 2003 by a group of engineers who wanted to prove that people didn’t need to compromise to drive electric – that electric vehicles can be better, quicker and more fun to drive than gasoline cars. In addition to selling EVs and energy systems, Tesla operates customer-facing infrastructure through a global network of vehicle service centers, Mobile Service technicians, body shops, Supercharger stations and Destination Chargers to facilitate widespread adoption of their products. Tesla also installs and maintains energy systems and sells solar electricity; and offers end-to-end clean energy products, including generation, storage, and consumption. Tesla believes the faster the world stops relying on fossil fuels and moves towards a zero-emission future, the better. Additionally, they market and sell vehicles to consumers through a network of company owned stores and galleries. Tesla operates as two segments: one focused on automotive which includes its Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X vehicles, and the second on energy generation and storage which includes Powerwall and Megapack lithium-ion batteries. Today, Tesla is led by Elon Musk, however, other notable founders of the company are Martin Eberhard, JB Straubel, Marc Tarpenning, and Ian Wright. The company has manufacturing facilities in the US, Germany and China and has operations across Asia Pacific and Europe. Tesla is headquartered in Austin, Texas.
