Rob Sainsbury

VP, System Solutions at Thales Defense & Security

Rob Sainsbury is Vice President of the System Solutions business unit for Thales Defense & Security, Inc. In this role, Mr. Sainsbury leads a diverse portfolio of businesses and products, including radars, sonars, ship combat management systems, helmet mounted displays, cyber security, and training and simulation.

Prior to joining Thales Defense & Security, Inc., Mr. Sainsbury worked for 11 years at DRS Technologies, most recently as Vice President of Business Operations and Strategy for the Maritime and Combat Support Systems group. Early in his career, Mr. Sainsbury served eight years of active duty as a US Navy submarine officer (USS Trepang, SSN674), and thereafter, put his technical and leadership skills to work for a variety of defense and technology companies, including General Electric, Martin Marietta, Lockheed Martin, and Raytheon.

Mr. Sainsbury earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island and a Master’s degree in the Management of Technology [a joint program in engineering (The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences) and business (The Wharton School)] from the University of Pennsylvania.
