Structural Engineer In Launch Program Office at The Aerospace Corporation

Sean Engelstad is a dedicated aerospace engineer with substantial experience in research and structural engineering. Currently serving as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Georgia Institute of Technology since June 2019, Sean focuses on coupled fluid-structure interaction and aerothermoelasticity under the supervision of Dr. Graeme Kennedy in the Structures Multidisciplinary Design Optimization lab. Concurrently, Sean holds a position as a Structural Engineer intern at The Aerospace Corporation, where activities include structural analysis, machine learning, and propulsion system anomaly detection. Prior experience includes undergraduate research in Magnetohydrodynamic turbulence and optimization algorithms, as well as roles in managing pool facilities and tutoring mathematics. Sean has earned a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
