Maya Lora

Maya Lora serves as the Early Childhood Education Reporter for the Baltimore Banner, focusing on how Maryland can support young children and families from pregnancy through kindergarten. Prior to this role, Maya worked as a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Reporter for The Baltimore Sun, contributing to various important stories within the realm of DEI. Experience also includes reporting on business, growth, and development for The Ledger in Lakeland, Florida. Maya began journalism work at the Miami Herald Media Company, where responsibilities included general assignment reporting in local government and business. Education was completed at Washington and Lee University, earning a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and English (Honors) with Cum Laude distinction. Maya's early career also involved various writing and photography roles at Washington and Lee University and internships that enriched skill sets in reporting and photography.
