The Broad
Calvin Coloma is a skilled artist currently serving as an Art Handler Apprentice at The Broad since September 2022, through the Diversity Apprenticeship Program. With a robust background in photography, Calvin has worked as a freelance photographer, focusing on painting, collage, and drawing. Previous experience includes roles as a Photographer for GradImages, a Lead Photographer at Rock Our World, and a Photographer Assistant for Gitte Meldgard. Early career highlights feature an internship as a Digital Finisher at The Icon and military service as a Firefighter in the United States Air Force, where Calvin received an honorable discharge with several medals. Educational credentials include ongoing studies at the Academy of Art University and an Associate of Arts degree in Photography from Santa Monica College.
The Broad
The Broad is a contemporary art museum founded by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Gensler, the museum offers free general admission and presents an active program of rotating temporary exhibitions and innovative audience engagement. The Broad is home to nearly 2,000 works of art in the Broad collection, which is one of the world’s leading collections of postwar and contemporary art, and welcomes more than 800,000 visitors a year. The 120,000-square-foot building features two floors of gallery space and is the headquarters of The Broad Art Foundation’s worldwide lending library, which has been loaning collection works to museums around the world since 1984.
